Frost Engineering & Consulting designed the reinforced concrete caissons, cantilevered wide flange steel columns, and intermediate steel HSS and wide flange framing to support the structural FRP panels and steel louvers surrounding the perimeter of the data center site. The lower weight of the FRP panels, when compared to traditional concrete or steel material, allowed for greater optimization of the spacing of the caissons resulting in significant cost savings to the owner. Additional features of the screen wall included automated overhead coiling doors that provided vehicular access to the yard, multiple locations for louvers, and secured man-doors for personnel access. All sections of the screen wall were designed to accommodate the strict security measures required of a data center, and the customizable color of the panels allowed adaptability to match the aesthetics of the site.
