SERVICES

At Frost Engineering, we offer comprehensive structural design and retrofit services that ensure the longevity, safety, and functionality of buildings and infrastructure. Our team of experienced structural engineers excels in both new construction projects and retrofitting existing structures to withstand modern demands including seismic forces. Whether designing new buildings from the ground up or enhancing the resilience of aging structures, we prioritize innovative solutions that adhere to the latest industry standards and regulatory requirements. Frost serves as the Engineer of Record (EOR), delegated design engineer, or the review engineer for design projects in a wide range of project types including commercial, industrial, multi-residential, educational, medical, and data sectors. Frost supplies engineered sealed plans, 3D models for conflict avoidance, and engineered calculations where required. Structural designs at Frost incorporate various construction methods and materials, including but not limited to reinforced concrete, hot-rolled steel, cold-formed steel, masonry, pultruded FRP, open-web steel joists, aluminum, and timber. The expertise in a wide range of materials allows Frost to provide safe, tailored and cost-efficient solutions to our clients while focusing on collaborative communication and client satisfaction.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a revolutionary technology used by Frost Engineering that has transformed the construction industry. By creating comprehensive digital 3D representations of projects, BIM enables seamless collaboration and coordination among stakeholders. This results in increased project coordination efficiency among architects, engineers, contractors, and owners. BIM 3D models developed at Frost of new and existing projects provide an intelligent tool to optimize spatial planning, minimize errors, and improve the clients decision-making. With a commitment to innovation and efficiency, Frost leverages the power of BIM to turn clients’ visions into reality, making construction projects a transformative and collaborative experience.

Frost Engineering offers comprehensive Load & Condition Ratings services, ensuring the safety, reliability, and longevity of structures and assets. Expert engineers conduct meticulous evaluations to determine load-carrying capacities and assess the condition of structures. Deliverables with recommendations are provided, allowing clients to prioritize maintenance, comply with regulations, and make data-driven decisions. By availing these services, clients can maximize asset performance, minimize risks, and extend the life of their infrastructure investments, all backed by Frost’s commitment to precision and client satisfaction.

Frost Engineering provides condition assessments and load ratings for building roofs and floors, storage rack systems, fall-arrest framing systems, industrial platforms, mezzanines, crane runways, hoist frames, and just about anything else that carries load. Frost can provide a detailed surveying and reporting on the condition of your facility infrastructure with recommendations on expected remaining service life, maintenance approaches, and identification of problem areas. Frost can also provide PE-stamped reporting for your local authority or OSHA compliance needs, as well as critical load rating labels to assist your staff. Beyond assessing structural systems, Frost can also carry out an internal holistic risk management assessment of your assets and activities and assist with identifying the critical components and steps toward best value risk reductions, composing an independent safety plan, and carrying out life cycle assessments for investment decisions.

At Frost Engineering, our Research and Testing services are at the forefront of innovation and expertise. With a dedicated team of skilled researchers and engineers, we work closely with universities that incorporate state-of-the-art facilities to conduct cutting-edge investigations, experiments, and analyses of various advanced materials used in structural engineering. With a focus on innovation and staying at the forefront of industry advancements, our advanced material testing expertise allows us to unlock new possibilities to our clients.

At Frost Engineering, our seismic design and evaluation services are the cornerstone of resilient and safe structures. With a deep understanding of seismic demands and their potential impact on buildings and infrastructure, our team of expert engineers employs advanced methodologies and cutting-edge technologies to create seismic-resistant designs and conduct thorough evaluations. We assess existing structures for vulnerabilities and offer tailored retrofitting solutions to enhance their performance during seismic events. Our commitment to staying up to date with the latest seismic codes, regulations, and analytical methodologies including performance based seismic design ensures that our clients’ projects meet the highest safety standards.

Frost Engineering designs and produces engineer-of-record (EOR) and shop drawings for delegated design services of cold-formed steel, helical piles, and pultruded fiber reinforced polymer (FRP). Cold-formed steel can be used as exterior cladding, infill, and even load-bearing roof, floor, and wall framing. Helical piers provide quick and reliable foundations for buildings on poor soils as well as slopes or instances with large uplift loads. We are also one of the only structural design firms in the world that designs projects with pultruded FRP. Due to its non-corrosive material properties, pultruded FRP framing solutions may be ideal for infrastructure exposed to harsh outdoor environmental conditions (e.g., salts from sea spray or from roadway de-icing treatments) or from caustic industrial conditions (e.g., chemical processing). Due to its light-weight and domestic production, pultruded FRP framing can be manufactured, fabricated, delivered, and installed in rapid fashion compared to heavier traditional infrastructure materials, making it ideal in mission-critical construction projects. To help meet our client’s needs, we’ve even pursued experimental testing of novel FRP framing connections.

Frost Engineering can carry out special inspections and testing as required by IBC Chapter 17. With access to field and laboratory material testing equipment and years of experience in reporting on construction, Frost can quickly provide the construction support you need to stay on schedule.
