Frost Engineering & Consulting provided structural engineering services at the Cargill Salt facility in St. Clair, Michigan. Frost engineers provided assessment on existing structures and designed platform framing using all FRP materials for corrosion resistance and ease of installation. The Frost team designed this enclosed walkway integrated with a roof pipe rack to allow for easy access between buildings and to support various utility lines that were required to remain active during renovations of the existing facility.

The walkway is fully enclosed using a girt/purlin system to support FRP corrugated Resolite opaque and translucent panels which provide protection from the weather and natural lighting. The main structure consisted entirely of FRP pultruded material in order to support the accelerated project schedule and to provide extended durability as requested by the client due to the nature of the salt plant and the exterior location.
