Project Archives: Health & Aquatics Center

Frost Engineering was enlisted for structural engineering services for this entirely new construction project. The Elkhart Health & Aquatics facility was a collaboration between Beacon Health System, Elkhart Community Schools and the Community Foundation of Elkhart. Envisioned by community leaders and visionary donors as a place of health, wellness and growth for Elkhart County, the center includes community common spaces, fitness facilities, and a 66-meter competition pool with spectator seating for up to 1,200 people.

The total project cost approximately $72 million for a facility with 171,000 sq. ft. Total project time was approximately two years. The structure consisted of reinforced concrete footings, steel framing, CMU bearing and shear walls, concrete floor decks, and open-web steel joist roofs with metal decking.
