Frost Engineering & Consulting was selected by Associated Drywall Partners to design the exterior, non-load bearing cold-formed steel (CFS) wall framing for the eleven-story apartment building included in this 370,000 sq. ft. urban development in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The mixed-use residential building consisted of post-tensioned reinforced concrete beam / slab floor structures with reinforced concrete columns. Ground floor retail storefront areas as well as unique architectural build out features on the sides and roof of this structure introduced considerable engineering challenges to the project. Additionally, the presence of post-tensioning tendons in the floor construction limited the embedment depth of the fasteners used to secure the wall framing to the structure. Frost was able to work through these challenges and designed all exterior CFS components while adhering to the State Building Code and applying the equations and methodologies of the IBC Building Code, ASCE 7 and AISI S100.
