Frost Team Presents for NEX Webinar Series

Kevin Walsh, PhD, PE, SE; Juan Diego Pozo, PhD, PE and David Pirchio, PhD, PE recently co-presented the webinar, “Design of Pultruded Structures: Why, What, How?!” in collaboration with the University of Miami’s Francisco De Caso, PhD and Ehsan Harati, MS, PhD student, NSF Scholar and our current Frost graduate studies intern.⁠

⁠The presentation, co-sponsored by NEx and the American Concrete Institute (ACI), equipped participants with essential knowledge, tools, and resources to understand the “why, what, and how” of designing with FRP pultruded elements according to ASCE/SEI 74. The presenters covered fundamental design principles of pultruded composite elements, highlighting key similarities and differences between designing with FRP and steel. They also shared real-world examples from the Frost project portfolio, including some of our current FRP projects in New Jersey, Florida, and Arizona.⁠
