Frost Engineering was enlisted to design a structural retrofit and annex for the historic Baugo Township High School Gymnasium in Jamestown (Jimtown), Indiana. Built in 1929 and designated as an Indiana Landmark, the gymnasium was thoughtfully transformed into a modern community center while preserving its historic character.
The renovation retained key features such as the salt-glazed brick exterior, hanging balcony, and original fixed bleachers, maintaining the building’s architectural significance. The updated facility now includes a kitchen, flexible spaces for fitness classes and tutoring, and an upgraded gymnasium, providing a central hub for community activities.
The project involved approximately 10,500 square feet of renovated and new space, with an estimated construction cost of $3.5 million. The result is a revitalized landmark that blends historic preservation with modern functionality, ensuring continued use and community value.
