Sorin Hall, a historic undergraduate men’s residence hall at Notre Dame, was built in 1888 and named after the university’s founder, Rev. Edward Sorin, C.S.C. The oldest among the 32 residence halls on campus, Sorin Hall was the first dormitory constructed expressly for student housing. Before the hall was added, all students resided in the Main Building on campus.

Sorin Hall, alongside other buildings on the main campus quad, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has recently been renovated to maintain its distinctive architectural character while enhancing functionality, accessibility, and updating the infrastructure systems.

Frost Engineering teamed up with Arkos Design to deliver structural engineering services for targeted renovations. This collaboration involved assessing the current structure and masonry, as well as designing the roof addition and the modified entrance of the building.
