Kevin Q. Walsh, PhD, PE, SE, and Capra Williams, MEng, EI, were recently featured in Concrete International for their award-winning paper, “Experimentally Measured Tensile Performance of Pultruded FRP at Elevated Temperatures.”
This research, funded by NEx: An ACI Center of Excellence for Nonmetallic Building Materials, examined various design considerations for pultruded FRP materials. These included fiber orientation, flame-retardant additives, flame-retardant surface treatments, resin, and the performance of different cross sections under elevated temperatures.
